2026 Rulebook

All competitors are responsible for reading and complying with these rules. Ignorance of the rules is not grounds for appeal or reinstatement.

Safety Requirements

  1. 1.

All vehicles must have a functioning kill switch accessible from outside the vehicle.

  2. 2.

SFI-rated helmets are required for all drivers. Minimum SFI 31.1 rating.

  3. 3.

A minimum 2.5 lb dry-chemical fire extinguisher must be mounted within reach of the driver.

  4. 4.

Seat belts or racing harness (minimum 3-point) are mandatory for all drivers.

  5. 5.

Long sleeve shirts, long pants, and closed-toe shoes are required. Fire-resistant suits are recommended.

  6. 6.

All fuel systems must be secured and free of leaks prior to hitching.

  7. 7.

No spectators are allowed in the competition area during any pull attempt.

  8. 8.

Tech officials reserve the right to red-flag any vehicle deemed unsafe.

Tech Inspection

  1. 1.

All vehicles must pass tech inspection before competing. No exceptions.

  2. 2.

Competitors must present their vehicle for tech at least 1 hour before the pull begins.

  3. 3.

Weight must be verified and must not exceed the class maximum. Scale readings are final.

  4. 4.

Hook height will be measured at tech. Any vehicle exceeding the maximum hook height will be disqualified.

  5. 5.

Tire diameter will be measured. Altered or cut tires may be disallowed per class rules.

  6. 6.

Fuel may be tested at any time. Standard diesel and gasoline are the only approved fuels unless otherwise specified.

  7. 7.

Re-tech is required if any modifications are made after initial tech clearance.

  8. 8.

Tech officials' decisions are final. Protest procedures available per Section 6.

Competition Rules

  1. 1.

Pull order will be determined by random draw held at the drivers meeting.

  2. 2.

Each vehicle receives one (1) official pull attempt per class session.

  3. 3.

A re-pull may be granted at the tech official's discretion if a mechanical failure occurs during the pull.

  4. 4.

The sled operator's measurement is final. No second measurement will be performed.

  5. 5.

Vehicles must maintain forward momentum throughout the entire pull. A stall, spin, or backward move results in the distance at that point.

  6. 6.

Two blown tires during a pull may result in disqualification at the tech official's discretion.

  7. 7.

Full pulls earn maximum distance credit and additional points in standings.

  8. 8.

Tie-breaking is settled by re-pull when schedule permits; otherwise split points are awarded.

Weight Regulations

  1. 1.

All weight classes are gross vehicle weight — including the driver.

  2. 2.

Ballast weight may be added but must be securely mounted.

  3. 3.

Weight may not be added or removed between the scale and the pull track.

  4. 4.

If a vehicle is found to be overweight after a pull, that pull will be voided.

  5. 5.

Underweight vehicles may add ballast until the minimum weight floor if applicable.

  6. 6.

All weights (sleds on the front bumper, etc.) must comply with length and height restrictions.

Equipment Specifications

  1. 1.

All competitor vehicles must be street vehicles (original body required for Prostock classes).

  2. 2.

Turbocharger rules vary by class — refer to individual class specifications.

  3. 3.

Nitrous oxide injection is prohibited in all classes unless specifically permitted.

  4. 4.

Electronic traction control systems are prohibited.

  5. 5.

Cutting or grooving of tires is prohibited in street-legal classes.

  6. 6.

Wheelie bars are permitted at tech official's discretion based on vehicle behavior at previous events.

  7. 7.

Any modification not addressed in the rulebook must receive prior written approval from CS Pulling Promotions.

Any driver may protest another competitor's equipment within 30 minutes of the conclusion of that class.

  2. 2.

  3. 3.

Protests are heard by a three-person tech committee. Decision is majority vote.

  4. 4.

Appeals to the head tech official may be filed within 15 minutes of a committee decision.

  5. 5.

The head tech official's decision is final and binding.

  6. 6.

Unsportsmanlike conduct during any protest proceeding may result in the protesting competitor's disqualification.
